Emily was born in Ottawa, Canada but it was on her second visit to Thailand, after studying Thai massage and Reiki, that her journey to Yoga began. She had been struggling with a wandering mind during meditation and found the yoga asana so challenging that it left her no option but to be fully present, in the moment.

She had discovered her passion and continues to constantly explore different inspirations of asana and various paths of Yoga. In her teaching, she leans towards very precise anatomical instruction, building up from the foundation. Believing that being fully conscious of every aspect of the body in the pose, prevents chatter in the mind, keeping focus and presence.

She keeps her inner child alive through the practice and teaching of Acro Yoga, a unique blend of partner yoga and acrobatics. Emily continues to play, laugh, study, travel and teach Yoga in India and wherever else she may find herself.

Her training

Before coming to Yoga, Emily took a Pilates teacher training through the YMCA and an Anatomy course at Algonquin College. These courses gave her a great wealth of knowledge on body mechanics and posture analysis. These studies beautifully complimented her Certificate Course in Yoga at Kaivalyadhamma in India, which focused heavily on traditional Yogic philosophy and history.

Emily furthered her teaching skills with Mark Laham in his Yin Yoga teacher training program, greatly focused on both the mental and physical aspects of the yin practice.
She took her first Acro Yoga class in India with a circus performer and shortly after, went to the US for a workshop with his teachers. Then in 2009 she completed the level 1 and 2 Acro Yoga teacher training program in Montreal, Canada with Jessie Goldberg and Eugene Poku.

Emily loves sharing her knowledge with her students and feels especially rewarded when someone realizes that they can do something that they previously thought unattainable, breaking down those limitations we create in our mind. She is grateful for all the wonderful teachers she has met along her path and the abundance of blessings that life continues to bestow upon her.
